What’s New at Ohrstrom Library

Moving books (and bookshelves)!

Welcome back to SPS!  Whether you are new to Millville or returning for another year, the Ohrstrom librarians are glad you are here!

Our Hours: Sunday 11-9:30, Monday-Friday 8:30-9:30, Saturday 8:00-12:30

You can use your SPS ID to check out books, so drop by to see all the new books we received in over the summer! If digital is more your thing, check out our ebook and audiobook selections on SORA.

The library has plenty of study spaces – from our Upper Level Quiet Room to our study carrels on the Lower Level. Ask at the desk for laptop chargers, project supplies, and umbrellas. In fact, if you have any questions at all, there is always a librarian at the main desk who will be glad to help! If you are looking for a few minutes of downtime entertainment, we have you covered with puzzles and games, wellness tools, a giant chess set on the patio, and more.

Planning the Abbe gallery wall!

We were very busy over the summer, working on projects that will make Ohrstrom even better.  To mention a few:

  • The Reference Collection has been reviewed and updated. Stop by to check out the new signage that will make this room even easier to use for your research projects.
  • We have created an SPS Author section in Baker Reading Room. These books can all be checked out, so read an alum author today! Or, if you are interested in SPS History, see the new displays in the main lobby.
  • Come visit our new gallery wall on the Main Level featuring the amazing artwork of former SPS Faculty member William Abbe.
  • Perhaps our most noticeable change is a BIG collection move. The World History and Biography collections, formerly housed on the Lower Level, are now on the Main Level of the library for better accessibility. Our Fiction and Graphic Novel collections are now living on the Lower Level in the compact shelving. If you are having trouble locating material, please ask one of our friendly librarians.  You know we always love to help!

There are a few more changes and updates, but we don’t want to ruin all of the surprises. Drop by and see for yourself when we reopen on Friday September 6th. Welcome back!
