Looking for some spring break reading? Ms. Maxwell has some great suggestions for you!
“Lately I’ve enjoyed the hobby of reading books that have been turned into movies or shows, and then seeing what I think of each. It feels like the perfect activity for March break. I try not to compare the book to its screen version too much, as the book will almost always be richer. Instead, I just try to enjoy each as their own art form. Here are some that I’ve enjoyed recently:
Circle of Friends by Maeve Binchy: A coming-of-age story, set in Ireland, that follows two girls from a small town whose lives change when they attend college in Dublin.
Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton: A funny, sad, relatable, and honest memoir of the author’s years as a 20-something in London. With recipes!
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman: A graphic novel coming-of-age and coming out story of two teenage boys who meet and fall in love.
Nimona by ND Stevenson: A funny, irreverent graphic novel about a shapeshifting girl and the suspected villain she befriends.
