AANHPI? Yes! May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! It is a time for recognizing and celebrating their contributions and influence on the history, culture, literature, and achievements of the United States. In the library, you can browse the many displays throughout the building. You can also check out some of our recommended books below or explore our ebooks on SORA.
If you are interested in learning more, take a look at the History, Art and Culture in 101 Objects exhibit on this Smithsonian website. The project is “organized thematically to represent wide-ranging, shared experiences – navigation, intersections, labor, innovation, belonging, tragedy, resistance and solidarity, community, service, memory, and joy” – of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.
