Twenty-five years ago this week, over the weekend of April 20-21, 1991, the St. Paul’s School community gathered together for the dedication of Ohrstrom Library, which in the tradition of Sheldon Library before it, has faithfully supported the teaching, research, and fellowship of SPS students and faculty since its Inauguration.
To commemorate the Library’s Silver Anniversary, Mr. Barry, the Library staff and Library prefects Jack, Fiona, Hasna, Katrina, Mat and Jerry invite you to enjoy an evening of games, music and cake on Wednesday evening at 8:00. Dozens of board and card games will be available to use or feel free to bring your own games and teams.
Ohrstrom Library’s first Director Rosemarie Cassels-Brown, who retired in 1993, two years after the library opened, was instrumental in framing an enduring vision for Ohrstrom Library. She was an integral part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony in 1991, and this Wednesday evening at 8pm, she will be on hand to cut the first piece of Ohrstrom’s birthday cake in the library’s main lobby.
There is also an exhibit of photographs from the archives on display in the upper level lobby, celebrating the vision, construction and dedication of Ohrstrom Library 25 years ago. Next time you visit the library, stop by the upper level exhibit cases and learn about how our wonderful library came into being.
