Visiting Author Sarah Prager
March 30, 2017
LGBTQ people have shaped every aspect of our world, and Sarah Prager brings the stories of these real-life heroes from across the centuries to life in her talks, featuring the most popular icons from her book Queer, There, and Everywhere: 23 People Who Changed the World (May 2017, HarperCollins).
Along with queer backstories of some of history’s most famous names and some LGBTQ history classics, listeners will get to know the Mexican nun who dared to write love poems to a queen, the transgender Civil War solider who transitioned while immigrating to America, the Georgia blues singer who got caught in an all-female orgy, the gay baseball player who was forced to choose between his career and identity, and the omnisexual Franciscan friar who saved lives on 9/11. Their biographies cover every color of the rainbow and every corner of the globe.
Sarah had been an activist since she came out at the age of 14. Her creation of the popular queer history mobile app Quist has gotten her invited to the White House, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, and the offices of Twitter, Google, and Microsoft. She has worked for queer rights organizations from Boston to Bulgaria. Read her full bio.
